Netflix and YouTube Premium solve different problems. We compare Pakistani pricing in rupees, plans, downloads, background play, family sharing, and content to show which subscription fits how you actually watch, with a full yearly cost breakdown.
If you mostly watch movies and series, Netflix gives you more for your rupees. If most of your screen time is already on YouTube, Premium is the better buy. They aren’t really direct rivals, which is why the choice feels harder than it should.
This guide compares both services using Pakistani pricing, plan details, and everyday use on an Android phone. Prices were checked in October 2026 and can change, so confirm the final figure on each app’s own screen before paying.

| Feature | Netflix | YouTube Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest plan in Pakistan | Mobile, Rs 250/month | Student, Rs 329/month (verification required) |
| Standard individual plan | Basic, Rs 450/month | Individual, Rs 479/month |
| Family-friendly option | Standard, Rs 800/month (2 screens) | Family, Rs 899/month |
| Ads | None on any listed plan | None on full Premium |
| Downloads | Yes, on all plans | Yes |
| Background play | Not its purpose | Yes |
| Music included | No | Yes (YouTube Music Premium) |
| Best for | Movies, series, documentaries | Creators, music, long-form YouTube |

Netflix lists four plans for Pakistan on its official help page. The Mobile plan costs Rs 250 a month and works on one phone or tablet at 480p. Basic is Rs 450 for one supported device at 720p. Standard is Rs 800 for two devices at 1080p, and Premium is Rs 1,100 with the highest picture quality and the most simultaneous screens.
Every listed plan is ad-free and includes downloads and games. The Mobile plan does not support casting or mirroring to a TV, which matters if you watch on a bigger screen. It also needs Android 7 or later.
Taxes may be added depending on where you live. Netflix also notes that its accounts are meant for people living together in a single household.

YouTube Premium removes ads from videos, lets you download videos for offline viewing, and plays video audio with the screen off. It also includes YouTube Music Premium, so you get an ad-free music app in the same price.
In Pakistan, Individual is listed at Rs 479 a month, Family at Rs 899, and Student at Rs 329. Students must be verified, and verification is repeated yearly. New members usually get a free trial period, though offers can vary.
A cheaper Premium Lite tier is also being rolled out in some markets, including a Rs 299 listing for Pakistan at the time of writing. It removes ads from most videos but skips downloads and background play, so it suits viewers who simply want fewer interruptions. Check whether it appears in your own account.

Monthly figures look small, but yearly totals show the real gap. These are straight multiplications of the listed monthly prices, before any taxes.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix Mobile | Rs 250 | Rs 3,000 |
| Netflix Basic | Rs 450 | Rs 5,400 |
| Netflix Standard | Rs 800 | Rs 9,600 |
| Netflix Premium | Rs 1,100 | Rs 13,200 |
| YouTube Premium Student | Rs 329 | Rs 3,948 |
| YouTube Premium Individual | Rs 479 | Rs 5,748 |
| YouTube Premium Family | Rs 899 | Rs 10,788 |
Netflix Basic and YouTube Premium Individual are almost level on price. Running Netflix Mobile and YouTube Premium Individual together costs Rs 729 a month, or Rs 8,748 a year.
Pricing for both services is set by region, so subscribe through the country where you actually live and use the price shown in your own app.
Netflix is a curated library of films, series, documentaries, and its own originals. You pick something, watch it, and move on. Quality is consistent, but the catalogue changes over time as licensing deals come and go.
YouTube is the opposite. Content comes from millions of creators, from tutorials and podcasts to Pakistani dramas, cricket analysis, and music videos. Premium doesn’t add new content. It removes the friction from content that was already free.
That distinction decides most cases. If you would not miss ads on YouTube, Premium offers little. If you sit through them daily, it pays for itself in comfort.
Both services support downloads, which helps when mobile data is limited or a connection drops. Netflix downloads titles inside its app on all listed plans. YouTube Premium downloads videos for offline viewing and also music through YouTube Music.
Background play is where YouTube Premium stands apart. You can listen to a lecture, podcast, or song with the screen locked or while using another app. Netflix has no equivalent, because its content is built to be watched.
Streaming eats data quickly. Lower video quality or use downloads over Wi-Fi when you’re on a Jazz, Zong, Telenor, or Ufone data package.
YouTube’s Family plan works out cheaper per person if the members live at the same address. Premium Family allows up to five additional members aged 13 or older, and household rules apply, so sharing across separate homes isn’t reliable.
Netflix prices by screens. Standard supports two devices at once, and Premium supports more. As with YouTube, accounts are meant for one household.
Both services build recommendations from what you watch. On Netflix, you can use separate profiles for different viewers. On YouTube, your Google Account’s activity controls let you pause or delete watch history.
Only subscribe through each service’s own app or website. Payment details should never go through third-party sellers or unfamiliar sites.
Choose Netflix. Its library, picture quality tiers, and download support fit people who watch full-length stories. Basic is enough for most phone and laptop viewers.
Choose YouTube Premium. Ad-free viewing, background play, and YouTube Music together cover both video and audio habits. If you pay for a separate music app already, it can replace it.
Netflix Mobile at Rs 250 is the lowest entry point of any plan here, as long as you only watch on a phone or tablet. Eligible students can pay Rs 329 for full YouTube Premium.

Netflix is the better value if you want stories, films, and series, especially on Basic or Mobile. YouTube Premium is the better value if YouTube is already where you spend your time, and the music app is a genuine bonus.
For a single viewer with a modest budget, pick the one you’d open more often this week. If both fit, the Mobile plus Individual pairing is a manageable Rs 729 a month.
It depends on the plan. Netflix Mobile at Rs 250 is cheaper than any YouTube Premium option, while Netflix Basic at Rs 450 is only slightly below YouTube Premium Individual at Rs 479.
Yes. Full YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music Premium, so you don’t need a separate music subscription.
The plans listed on Netflix’s Pakistan page are all ad-free.
Yes. Netflix lists downloads on its plans, with limits on how many devices can download at once.
It suits people who only want fewer ads. It skips downloads and background play, so heavy mobile users usually need full Premium.
Family members are meant to live at the same address, and sharing across different households is not reliably supported.
